Dispatcher of the Year 2023

Fatima Moreno

Fatima Moreno began her career at County Communications on December 21, 2015, she was then promoted to a Communications Dispatcher II in the fire community on April 24, 2017. Fatima always displays a proactive attitude. She has a broad knowledge of the law and fire community which she shares with the new dispatchers as a CTO. Fatima participates as a member of the Outreach and Recruitment Team. Our Outreach and Recruitment Team focus their efforts on informing the public about the 9-1-1 system and educating potential applicants on the benefits of a career in public safety. Fatima recently worked a 3rd alarm fire in the new ICAD system and provided extra support to her co-workers while simultaneously working the main command channel. While working a 3rd alarm fire on a new CAD can be stressful, Fatima’s actions showed her perseverance and dedication to the job.

Alyson Skardoutos

Alyson began her career with County Communications on June 28, 2021. Since then, Alyson has proved to be an integral part of the County Communications team. Alyson constantly displays a positive attitude, is a CTO, academy instructor, participates in the interview process for the Dispatcher I position, and is an Outreach and Recruitment team member. All of these combined make her a great person and easy to supervise. Her enthusiasm and teamwork is infectious throughout the Control Room. In addition to her great work and enthusiasm, she has excelled as a law dispatcher in her time at County Communications.
In addition to the excellent work she does in the control room daily, she has also taken an active role in the academy. She teaches Basic Call Taking, Phone Systems, TTY, Rapid Deploy, and Text to 9-1-1. This year, when we switched over from WEST Text to 9-1-1 to Rapid Deploy/ Radius Text to 9-1-1, there was very little time for Alyson to learn the new Text to 9-1-1 platform before teaching it in the academy. She was flexible and demonstrated a very positive and proactive attitude resulting in no delays or rescheduling for the Academy. Her attitude and positive personality make her very easy to work with and encouraging to those around her.
